We here at A Sweet Design have recently used our delicious cupcakes for an even sweeter cause. We attended our first cupcake camp where professional, amateur, and youth alike baked their hearts out to benefit The Cancer Support Community and Cupcakes For Cancer. Cupcake camps are set up similar to wine tastings with many bakers bringing in their best cupcakes to be tasted and judged.
This particular event was created and hosted by the wonderful Blakely Colvin (Founder of Cupcakes For Cancer) at the beautiful Westlake Village Inn. Blakeley created the foundation when she was just thirteen years old to benefit a classmate and in the 5 years since has grown the foundation worldwide to help fight cancer. We at A Sweet Design couldn’t wait to get involved donating over 300 cupcakes as well as a professionally designed cake to be auctioned off at a raffle. The event was wildly successful with 3 rooms filled with over 1,200 attendees and 3,000 cupcakes, the event managed to raise a whopping $25,000 to fight cancer. We were pretty successful as well, taking first place prizes for Best Decorated: Movie Night Theme and Most Unique Flavor: Pistachio.
